Coffee Story
Ratnagiri Estate is located in the southwestern part of India in Karnataka, just outside the village of Athigiri and next to the 'coffee city' Chikkamagaluru. The farm is large at 120 acres, grows coffee between 1250 and 1450 MASL, and produces around seven containers (around 140,000 kilograms) yearly. This specific lot is a field blend of two hybrid varieties - Colombia (a cross between Caturra and Timor Hybrid) and Changragiri (a cross between Villa Sarchi and Timor Hybrid) - cultivated for their disease resistance. This lot was picked from the Giri patte block at 1450 MASL and went through honey processing, where it was de-pulped and fermented with the mucilage intact. It was fermented in an anaerobic environment with nitrogen for 10 hours and then dried in a parabolic dryer for 19 days.
